Dr. Tennant is a 1998 graduate of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.  He received bachelor degrees in biology and chemistry.

        He obtained his Doctor of Optometry in 2002 from the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Optometry. During his training, he completed two rotations in the Birmingham Low Vision Clinic.  In this rotation he had the opportunity to fit patients with devices and train them how to use them to accomplish goal oriented tasks.  He participated in an outreach program to a state funded home in Decautr, AL that gave much needed care to special needs and institutionalized patients. He completed two rotations in the UAB contact lens clinic which focused on educating students in a wide range of specialty contact lenses including gas permeable, bifocal, keratonconic and post surgical fittings.  A pediatric rotation introduced him to vision therapy and the techniques to assist his youngest patients.  He completed two specialty externships during 2000 and 2001.  The first was at the Birmingham Veteran Affairs Hospital which focused on geriatric eye care and the treatment of diabetic eye disease, cataracts and glaucoma.  His second externship was at the Charlotte Ear Eye Nose and Throat Center under the supervision of nationally renowned Dr. Ron Melton.  During this training he learned state of the art management techniques for a wide range of ocular disease.

        Dr. Tennant and his wife, Dr. Angela Ellerman, were married in Madison in 2002 and started their family with the birth of their first child, Evan, in 2008.  Dr. Tennant is a member of Lion’s Club.  They hope to remain in Madison for many years to come.

        Dr. Ellerman attended the University of Tennessee-Knoxville for her undergraduate studies and received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry.  She minored in German language.

        She obtained her Doctor of Optometry in 2002 from the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Optometry.  During her training, she completed two rotations in the Children’s Hospital Low Birth Weight Clinic.  This allowed her to follow children from birth to five years and assess their visual development in a multidiscipline setting.  She completed two rotations in vision therapy and developmental vision.  Her externship at Pediatric Eye Care of Atlanta focused on the com-management of strabismus (eye muscle) surgery and childhood disease.  Her two rotations in the Birmingham Low Vision Clinic provided her with valuable experience helping those with decreased vision due to disease or birth defects.  This rewarding experience allowed her to help them obtain services and fit them with devices to assist with everyday living.  In 2001, she completed an externship at the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Hospital which focused on geriatric eye care including the management and treatment of diabetes, cataracts, and glaucoma.

        She has worked for Lee, Ellerman, and Associates, O.D., P.C., a full scope optometry practice for 6 years.  She and her husband, Dr. Kenneth Tennant, have resided in Madison since 2002 and hope to call it home for years to come.  In March 2008, they welcomed their first child, Evan, into their family.  She is excited to share a practice with her husband and serve the community in which they live.
